ABOUT

PHOTOGRAPHER

SPACE / DETAIL / PEOPLE / PLACE

I am a Scottish photographer based in the New Jersey / New York City area, available for commissions and collaborative projects throughout the United States and the UK.

My practice is rooted in a deep sensitivity to place, familiar and unfamiliar and is driven by an ongoing exploration of spaces in transition and the subtle interplay between environment and human presence.

At the heart of my work is a desire to document, interpret, and respond to the world as it unfolds around me. I approach photography both literally and experimentally, employing a range of techniques to create images that observe and reimagine the everyday. Whether capturing the shifting character of urban development or the quiet moments hidden in plain sight,  I am drawn to the unnoticed, the fleeting, in-between and liminal.

Past and current projects focus on large-scale developments, capturing their evolving landscapes before construction and progress reshape their physical and cultural identities. These images act as visual records, both historical and emotional, of spaces on the verge of transformation. My process is intuitive and often guided by spontaneity and the unexpected. I seek out moments of stillness and isolation: a shadow cast on concrete, a solitary object out of place, a trace of human absence or presence.

These works are studies in silence, fragments of isolation and reflections on the spaces themselves. They offer a visual pause, an invitation to consider the layers of meaning in environments often overlooked.

ART CURATOR

Creating dialogue between art, architecture, and place.

My career began behind the camera, documenting large-scale developments and architectural projects. Initially, my intention was to integrate my photographic work into these completed environments. Over time however, I recognised an opportunity to broaden this vision - to curate not only my own images but also the work of other artists whose perspectives could enhance and enrich these spaces.

Today my curatorial practice brings together artists working across various mediums including painting, sculpture, textiles, and installation with each piece thoughtfully selected or commissioned to respond to its environment. I work closely with clients and artists to develop site specific works that reflect the character, history, or cultural narrative of a building’s location.

Every project is guided by a clear brief, timescale, and budget, ensuring that each curated space feels cohesive, meaningful, and enduring.

My approach continues to evolve from a photographer’s eye, attentive to composition, light and context to a curator’s sensibility for creating harmony between art, architecture, and human experience.
